About Me

Even as a child I loved to draw and paint animals. Art class was always my favorite, a place where a few indulgent art teachers allowed me to follow my own direction. When I was ten I won an art competition drawing “south end of three northbound cows” (cow with swishing tails). Painting animals has been my love since that day.

This is my first “Pet Portrait” over a decade ago.

This is a painting of my two older brothers and our English Shepard —Tippy. I named the painting My Three Brothers. Tippy was a dog of ten years when I was born and she was my constant companion on the outskirts of Fort Worth, Texas in the 1950s. Her loss when I was only six was devastating. My mother took her to the vet and came home without her-my heart was broken. It can still bring a tear — 60 years later.

Pascal — a rescued kitten from the State Park. Cold, hungry, and lonely, she came home with us to be loved and appreciated!

For over ten years I have been painting pets. Traditionally trained with a degree in Fine Art, I have spent 17 years teaching K-12 art and now teach adult painting classes. I live in the country at Lake of the Ozarks in mid-Missouri. Cows, goats, dogs, cats, squirrels and the occasional raccoon are all part of her everyday life. I am passionate about animals and can’t imagine a life without them!

Making a place in your home and heart for animals-especially those abandoned, is a great calling. Most all of the pets I have ever loved where given to me or ones no one else wanted. We have had rabbits, goats, sheep, bottle calves, horses, cats, dogs, and the occasional squirrel. Those individuals who crawl through drainpipes, wade through flooding streets, and dash into burning forests to grab a wild animal or someones pet, have my admiration. To help support their efforts I will donate a portion of the proceeds of every animal portrait to an animal shelter or organization of your choice. When you commission a painting please write in the message box the name and address of your charity.

Thank-you!
